Sun Peaks, Canada
Sun Peaks Ski Holidays
Sun Peaks was originally known as Tod Mountain. However, since 1993 the area has been developed into one of the most popular family ski destinations in North America. Children up to the age of 18 years ski free in Sun Peaks! Former Olympic Giant Slalom champion Nancy Green and her husband who were hugely involved with the development of Whistler have made Sun Peaks their home and actually live in the Cahilty Lodge. As Sun Peaks is located in the centre of B.C. the resort benefits from the fine, dry snow that hits the area providing fantastic powder conditions. There are three mountains - Tod mountain, Sundance Mountain and Mt Morrisey that surround the village of Sun Peaks so access to the skiing is very easy. Sun Peaks is a great resort to twin centre with the likes of Big White, Silver Star or Banff.
Ski Sun Peaks
There is over 3,700 acres of skiable terrain to play with in through the Sun peaks area. This means that it is the second largest ski area in British Columbia - Whistler is the largest. It is a good idea to take one of the free guided ski tours on your first days so that you get your bearings and make the most of the mountains. You can also ski with former Olympian Nancy Greene which is great fun! Beginners will learn on excellent green runs from the award winning ski school. Early intermediates will find that the slopes are complimentary to your style. More advanced intermediates can give the glades and blacks a go such as Cahilty and Peek A Boo. Experts will find that mist if the steep runs are over on Mt Tod and some fab long mogul runs over on Mr Morrisey. There are also three levels of terrain park over on Sundance with rails, jumps, jibs, fun boxes and a beginner and intermediate area so everyone can have a go!
